Tab Stash is built to keep your data yours. This policy explains exactly what the extension does and does not do with your information.
What we collect
Nothing. Tab Stash has no servers, no accounts, and no analytics. We — the developers — never receive any of your data.
What the extension stores, and where
When you save a stash, the extension records the titles and URLs of the tabs you chose, along with any name or note you add. This information is stored:
- Locally, in your browser's extension storage on your own device; and
- Optionally in your browser's built-in sync (Google account for Chrome, Microsoft account for Edge) only if you have browser sync turned on. This is the same mechanism that syncs your bookmarks, and the data travels directly between you and your browser vendor — never through us.
The synced copy contains tab titles and URLs only (not page contents or favicons).
Permissions and why they're needed
- tabs — to read the titles and URLs of the tabs you save, and to reopen or close them when you ask.
- storage — to save your stashes and, optionally, sync them across your own devices.
- alarms — to run the optional "auto-stash idle tabs" feature on a schedule.
To power auto-stash, the extension keeps a simple record of when each open tab was last used (a timestamp). It never reads the contents of any web page. The extension uses no website host permissions, no content scripts, and no remote/third-party code.
Payments
If you choose to upgrade to Pro, payment is processed by our payment provider (ExtensionPay, using Stripe). We never see or store your card details. The provider's handling of your payment information is governed by their own privacy policies.
Sharing and selling
We do not sell, rent, trade, or transfer your data to anyone.
Deleting your data
Delete individual stashes from within the extension, or remove all of it by uninstalling the extension and (if you used sync) clearing synced extension data from your browser settings.
